Jasmine Mallory (Butterfly Beauty) is a digital artist, photographer, author, poet, and a practicing raw vegan. In 2017, while embarking on a journey to gain “knowledge of self,” Jasmine came up with the idea to use the theme/genre of “ReCreate” as a way to creatively share Black History year round. Initially, she posed as the model for each historical figure. Now she serves as the photographer behind the scenes, inviting community members to portray the historical roles. What started off as a blog has now become a high traffic website with vistors tapping in from around the globe. The Recreate Project has also inspired an annual Black History Calendar which is available for purchase under the shop tab.
